X. CHURCH

A) Jesus never wrote a book, recorded a song, headed a corporation, traveled more than a few hundred miles but, He founded the Church. The Church is the only organization appointed and founded by Christ to further His Kingdom on earth. The Church is called both the "Body of Christ" and the "Bride of Christ". This is the type of Eve who was the "body" of Adam before she was his bride. Gen. 2:18,21-24; and Eph. 5:25-30 The Bride, that is the Church, will reside in the New Jerusalem. Revelation 19:7-8

B) We believe that the Church was formed when Christ called out His first disciples.  John 1:35-51

C) is the Body of Christ. 1 Cor. 12:27; Eph. 1:23; and Col. 1:18, 24

D) was named by Christ and built on faith in Christ. Matthew 16:18

E) The Church is led and directed by the Holy Spirit. Rev. 2:7, 11,17,29 and Rev. 3:6,13, and 22

F) The Holy Spirit calls leaders to be responsible for the Church. Acts 20:28

G) The Head of the Church is Christ. Eph. 1:22

H) The Church is to send out messengers of the Gospel. 2 Cor. 8:19 and 23

I) The Church is referred to as the first born of Christ (first fruit of His creation). Hebrews 12:23

J) God's plan and His wisdom for the ages are to be carried out by and through the Church during this Dispensation. Ephesians 3:10

K) The gifts that God bestows upon His children are to be used in such a way as to glorify the Church and to convert the unbeliever. 1 Cor. 14:4-5 and 23-24

L) The Church is to nurture those young in the faith. Acts 11:22

M) Characteristics of the early Church:

Loved each other

Helped each other

Ate together

Met for prayer

Continued to cure sick and work miracles

Commissioned evangelists or missionaries

Had a bold witness Acts 4:29-34; Acts 13:2-5; Acts 5:42

N) The Church: taught about Jesus. Acts 2:42

O) Encouraged one another I Thess. 5:11

P) They looked for Christ's Return. 1 Thess. 4:15-16

Q) Contended for the faith Jude 3

R) Christ purchased the Church with His blood. Acts 20:28

S) The Church should be a place where those things that God has done can be shared. Acts 14:27

T) We believe that all that believe upon the name of Jesus should join the Church. Acts 2:47
