IX. COMMUNION

A) We believe that Communion is-

a symbol of Christ's sacrifice for believers. Hebrews 10: 3-9; 1 Cor. 11:26; Matthew 26:26-27;

Leviticus 17:11 and Hebrews 9:22

B) an act of remembrance-to remember Christ's fellowship with believers. 1 Cor. 10:16-17

C) Christ was tempted to talk back when false accusations were being hurled at Him. Matthew 27:14

D) representative of His body broken for us. Luke 22:19-20

E) representative of His blood spilt for us. John 6:50-51

F) Christ requested that we, His followers, should "do this in remembrance". Christ instituted this Holy Sacrament. 1 Cor. 11:20-27

G) We do not believe that the bread and the juice is transformed into Christ's actual body and blood. Christ's sacrifice was made once and for all. Hebrews 9:28 and 10:8-18

H) Communion is a time to evaluate our relationship to Christ. We should judge ourselves and, if necessary, come back into a right relationship with Christ. That sometimes means asking for forgiveness and cleansing. 1 Cor. 11:27-32; 2 Cor. 13:5 and 1 Cor. 10:21-22

I) The Communion Service is the beginning of a new covenant (testament) with God. This covenant is grace through the sacrifice of Christ. Mark 14:24; Matthew 26:28; Exodus 24:8; Jeremiah 31:31-32 and Ephesians 1:7
