| XIII. SALVATION BY GRACE A) We believe that we have all sinned and that we need to be saved from that sinful and lost condition. Salvation is the saving of the soul from sin and from eternal death. Romans 3:23-24 and 1 John 1:8-9, 5:7 B) Salvation is bridging the gap between God and the self-centered nature within fallen mankind (self-centered rather than God-centered). Eph. 2:2-6 C) Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. Heb. 9:22 D) Abel's sacrifice was received because of the shedding of blood. Gen. 4:4 E) Before Christ, right standing with God was through the sacrificial laws. Lev. 17:11 F) Believers were and are purchased with God's own blood. Acts 20:28 G) Christ died a voluntary death upon the cross as a substitution sacrifice for sin. 1 Cor. 15:3 and 1 Peter 2:23-24 H) The sacrifice of Jesus Christ was whole and complete. Heb. 10:10,11 and 14 I) Jesus was the representative of the fallen world (Man). Romans 5:15 J) but He also functioned as priest (Holy) Hebrews 2:10 K) and offered the sacrifice which was Himself (Lamb) John 1:29 L) unto the One to whom all must be reconciled (God) 2 Cor.5:18-19. M) Those who receive Christ by faith have their sins forgiven. Eph. l :7 N) They are then born of the Spirit and thus become children of God. John 1:12-13 O) If born again, they are now become a new creation in Christ Jesus. 2 Cor.5:17 P) We receive Christ by confessing our sins, asking for forgiveness and inviting Jesus to be our Lord. Romans 10:9-11 Q) He never denies that request if we are sincere in our asking. Matthew 10:32 R) Atonement is the satisfaction given for wrong-doing; the making of amend of reparation. Jesus in His suffering and death brought about the reconciliation of God to man. Colossians 1:20 S) Thus we believe that Salvation is by the Atonement of Jesus. 2 Cor. 5:21 T) We believe that: man is saved from sin by grace. Romans 3:24-26 U) grace comes through faith in Christ. Romans 5:1 V) salvation is available in Christ (One Way). Acts 4:12 W) salvation is not by works. Rom. 4:4-5; Eph.2:8-9 and 2 Tim. 1:9 X) salvation is not by keeping the law. Rom. 3:28 and Gal. 2:16 Y) salvation is a free gift. Romans 5: 14-15 Z) Nothing can come between Christ and the believer. However, man always has a free will and that free will can be used to walk away from our salvation. Romans 8:35; Matt. 18:15-17; James 5:19-20; Luke 15:18-19 and 24
