V. REGENERATION BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

A) We believe that a believer receives God's Spirit at the time of salvation. Acts 2:38 and John 3:5-8

B) We believe that the "Regeneration by the Holy Spirit" refers to deeper infillings of God's presence. Acts 8:12, 15-17

C) The Disciples were instructed to "tarry" until they received this greater measure of God's blessing. Luke 24:49

D) It was first given and received at Pentecost and was evidenced by flames of fire, speaking in diverse languages and by wind. Matthew 7:9-11 and Acts 19:6

E) We believe that it is given to those who ask for it. 2 Thess. 2:13; John 3:5-8; and 1 Cor. 12:3

F) We believe that it is not necessary to speak in tongues to have received regeneration by the Holy Spirit. 1 Cor. 12:4-6; 14:1-33

G) The reason that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is given is so that we might have power to witness. Acts 1:4-8

H) It is given to help us in our praying (wisdom how to pray in accordance with the will of God). 1 Cor. 14:15 and Romans 8:26

I) The Regeneration by the Holy Spirit also enables us to praise and glorify God. John 16:14 and 1 Cor. 12:3

J) It opens Scriptures to our understanding. John 14:17, 26; and John 16:13

K) The Holy Spirit is not given to the believer to edify him and that he might perform signs and wonders; although there will be times when the gifts of
the Spirit will include healings and miracles. Acts 8:9-11 and 18-23
