REGENERATION BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
A) We believe that a believer receives God's Spirit at the time of salvation.
Acts 2:38 and John 3:5-8
B) We believe that the "Regeneration by the Holy Spirit" refers to deeper
infillings of God's presence. Acts 8:12, 15-17
C) The Disciples were instructed to "tarry" until they received this greater
measure of God's blessing. Luke 24:49
D) It was first given and received at Pentecost and was evidenced by flames of
fire, speaking in diverse languages and by wind. Matthew 7:9-11 and Acts 19:6
E) We believe that it is given to those who ask for it. 2 Thess. 2:13; John
3:5-8; and 1 Cor. 12:3
F) We believe that it is not necessary to speak in tongues to have received
regeneration by the Holy Spirit. 1 Cor. 12:4-6; 14:1-33
G) The reason that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is given is so that we might
have power to witness. Acts 1:4-8
H) It is given to help us in our praying (wisdom how to pray in accordance with
the will of God). 1 Cor. 14:15 and Romans 8:26
I) The Regeneration by the Holy Spirit also enables us to praise and glorify
God. John 16:14 and 1 Cor. 12:3
J) It opens Scriptures to our understanding. John 14:17, 26; and John 16:13
K) The Holy Spirit is not given to the believer to edify him and that he might
perform signs and wonders; although there will be times when the gifts of
the Spirit will include healings and miracles. Acts 8:9-11 and 18-23
